Discrimination and Preference

From a book:
The Children of Israel in the land of Kush
 Sheikh El-Nayyal Abu Groon

The Quran came to confirm the book of Moses, honoring and explaining its details. God Almighty said, "And before it was the scripture of Moses to be a guide and a mercy and this is a book confirming it in the Arabic language..." [Qur'an 46:12]. And the book of Moses, God made in it the details of everything. God Almighty said, "Then We gave Moses the Book, complete for one who does good, detailing everything, and guidance and mercy, that they might believe in the encounter with their Lord" [Qur'an 6:154]. God has shown this detail in the Quran, as God Almighty said, "...And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it..." [Qur'an 5:48]. Therefore, the Quran is the book and the clarification of everything, and it is the knowledge of everything. As there was a detail in the book of Moses, and it came to confirm it with the Arabic language, it is not null and void, as the ignorant people who divide between the messengers of God think, despite His saying, "…We make no distinction between any of His messengers..." [Qur'an 2:285]. God Almighty has described them as disbelievers. God said, "...And they wish to separate God and His Messengers and say, "We believe in some but disbelieve in others." And they wish to adopt a way in between. Those are the disbelievers, truly..." [Qur'an 4:150-151]. God Almighty has brought everything in previous books together in this Quran, so it comes as dominant and comprehensive to everything in them and confirms their authenticity. Therefore, since the Quran explains the details in the book of Moses, it confirms its detail as well. God said, "...That you may know the number of years and account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail." [Qur'an 17:12]. This was to let mankind know that everything in the book of Moses is present in this Quran, which is the clarification of it as well. There is no difference in the origin of the message among all the messengers..
God Almighty said, 'And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."' [Qur'an 21:25]. "…We make no distinction between any of His messengers...' [Qur'sn 2:285]. Faith cannot exist except without removing differences, 'Indeed, those who have believed in God and His messengers and then did not doubt but strove with their wealth and their lives in the cause of God - those are the truthful." [Qur'an 49:15]. Divine reward is not limited to the afterlife, as it is a gift from God that human thought cannot limit."
Many people have become confused in distinguishing between the messengers and the messages, and in making distinctions between them. They mistakenly believe that making distinctions cancels out the shared foundation between what is superior or inferior. These people have judged based on ignorance of the invalidity and lack of value of what is inferior and its disagreement with what is superior. They have relied on their limited knowledge of the invalidity of the Torah and the Gospel, while having no understanding of the book of God Almighty. God has sent nations back to their books and committed them to following them, and He did not restrict them to accepting the Quran and abandoning the books that their messengers brought them. God Almighty said, "And you see every nation kneeling [in prayer] to its Book...” [Qur'an 45:28]. And God Almighty said, "And if only they upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Lord, they would have consumed [provision] from above them and from beneath their feet...” [Qur'an 5:66]. In this context, distinction refers to the origin of things, meaning that if there is distinction, there is no common ground in the origin. On the other hand, preference is made between things that share the same origin. God Almighty said, "Those messengers some of them We caused to exceed others ..." [Qur'an 2:253]. They are alike in their message, but some are better than others.(nope! فضلنا means here means each's given a different task from the other hence G-d gives him a special tool to get it done), And God Almighty said, "…And We have certainly favored some prophets over others..." [Qur'an 17:55]. These prophets have a shared prophethood, but some are superior to others.
When there is a preference between two things that are different in origin, the preference is not in their origin, but in the purpose they serve. This means that preference is based on the result they have in common. For example, if we ask which is better, fruit or barley, preference is related to the purpose they serve, which is food, because they do not share the same origin. However, if the purpose they serve is also different, there is no possibility of preference based on origin because there is a difference in both their origin and their purpose. For example, if we say "prayer is better than sleep," there is no relationship between prayer and sleep, neither in origin nor in the purpose they serve, so there is no meaning in preference because there is no relationship. Some people also confuse fear and sadness and do not distinguish between them. Fear is from an imminent danger that is feared to happen, while sadness is for something that has already happened and the sad person has lost something valuable to them, or it may be attributed to a failure in a task they have undertaken and did not succeed in.
The Torah contains the judgment of God, and it is the same Torah that the Prophets who submitted to God judged by. God Almighty said, "And how is it that they will judge you while they have with them the Torah, in which is the ruling of God..." [Qur'an 5:43]. God also said, " We gave Moses the Book; so do not be in doubt regarding His encounter; and We made it a guidance for the Children of Israel. * And We appointed leaders from among them, guiding by Our command, as long as they persevered and were certain of Our communications. * Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding everything they had disputed." [Qur'an 32:23 – 25]. If there is a dispute, then judgment belongs to God on the Day of Resurrection, not to those who follow their desires in this world and issue fatwas without justification. God Almighty said, "And let the People of the Gospel judge by what God has revealed therein..." [Qur'an 5:47]. It is surprising to see those who are called scholars and have pulpits, some of whom do not believe in what God has revealed. Some have even lit a fire and burned the holy book in the University of Khartoum one day, and incited students to burn the annual exhibition that Christians held at that time.
He (peace and blessings be upon him, his parents, and his family) said, "The Prophets are like brothers from different mothers, but their religion is one." He (peace and blessings be upon him, his parents, and his family) also said, "I am the closest to Isa (Jesus) among all people." A true believer is someone who respects all the messengers of God, believes in them, affirms their books, and has faith in them. No one should think that they are a Muslim if they harbor contempt for what God has revealed in the previous scriptures. Rather, they are a true Muslim if they respect them. This is what has been mentioned in the Quran. Anyone who says otherwise should bring forth a verse from the Book of God, but they won't be able to do so. This would only make them a denier of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him, his parents, and his family) and what he brought.
If someone says that these books have been corrupted, we say to them that we reject corruption but do not reject the original message that came from God. Similarly, we believe in the authenticity of the Quran and reject what is said in some hadiths that they are incomplete, that some of its verses have been lost, and that there is a verse that Umar ibn Al-Khattab wanted to add but was afraid that people would say he added to the Book of God. This means that Umar, if such hadiths were accepted, was willing to accept a deficiency in the Book of God in exchange for people not saying what he feared. Can someone who believes in God and His Messenger be characterized by such behavior? Also, we reject those who say that Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas are not from the Book of God but rather they are incantations, and likewise those who say "male and female" instead of what God Almighty said "He created the male and the female." We also reject the saying attributed to Abu Musa Al-Ashari, "Indeed, we used to read a Surah that was equivalent in length and severity to Surat Al-Bara'ah (At-Tawbah), but it was forgotten except that I memorized from it: if the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would seek a third valley, and nothing would fill the stomach of the son of Adam except dust."
The succession of the messengers does not indicate any error in their messages. God Almighty stated, "Indeed, the religion in the sight of God is Islam..." [Qur'an 3:19]. Therefore, God did not send any messenger with a different religion, which means that He did not send a messenger with anything other than Islam. However, it is the followers of the messengers who change what the messengers came with and distort the word from its proper place. Some ignorant people have issued fatwas that Islam is only what Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him, his parents, and his family) brought and that they alone are Muslims. Unfortunately, some Jews and Christians accepted this fatwa to differentiate between the messengers of God even though the religion is one, which came from one God. It is noteworthy that the Quran did not address Muhammad's people as "O Muslims" or "O you who have submitted," but addressed them as "those who believe," as previously mentioned. They should not say "we are Muslims exclusively," and they are not entitled to do so. Their argument based on the verse "… He has named you Muslims..." [Qur'an 22:78] is not convincing because non-Muslims in their view mean non-believers. Did all the messengers after Abraham peace be upon him and their nations not become Muslim? On the contrary, the verse confirms that they were all Muslims, "before and in this" [Qur'an 2:133]. A Muslim is someone who has submitted to God willingly or unwillingly (X here he contradicts what he wrote in his 1st book!), as God Almighty said, "... when to Him has submitted everything in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly,..." (It's a different story!) [Qur'an 3:83]. Therefore, the Quran came to describe the people of the messengers. Moses' people are called "those who are Jewish," Jesus' followers are called "Christians," and Muhammad's people are called "those who believe." Muslims are those who submit to God among all the messengers and prophets, and those who follow them with faith, including those who submitted unwillingly. Therefore, Muslims are not limited to Muhammad's people alone, as previously explained, nor are "those who believe" the only believers.
The Quran came to confirm the book of Moses (peace be upon him), explain its details, and it also contains these details. However, many people have missed this point, and instead of contemplating on what God commanded them, they have focused on memorizing the letters of the Quran, its recitation, elongation, nasalization, and so on. As a result, most of the reciters have become like donkeys carrying books without understanding their contents. Many of these reciters have been described by the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him as "the most hypocritical of my nation are its reciters." The aim is to reflect on the meaning of the Quran rather than just memorizing its letters. God Almighty said, "…So read of the Quran what is possible for you…" [Qur'an 73:20], and "Rather, they are clear verses within the breasts of those who have been given knowledge" [Surah Al-Ankabut, Verse 49]. Therefore, contemplating and understanding the meaning is what is required. They have also misunderstood that recitation means reciting the Quran with a beautiful voice, as memorizing the Quran is not just about memorizing its letters and writing them. God Almighty said, "… So read of it what is possible for you, …" [Qur'an 73:20], Neglecting reflection is what led people to differentiate between the messengers of God and limit Islam to what was brought by Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him, his parents, and his family. It is not in the nature of God Almighty to send a messenger with a flawed religion to change it with what comes after it. This can only come from those who do not ponder over the matter. No one is described as a believer unless they believe in the messengers, their books, and the angels after they believe in God. "The prophets are brothers from different mothers, and their religion is one."
